Through his Master of Environmental Management project Brandon McNamara explores the interdependence between the natural world, cultural ecology, and resilient living practices across global mountain communities. A dynamic collaboration has been established between the Coldhabour Institute, based in the Gunnison valley Colorado, and the Foundation for Contemplation of Nature, based in the Himalayas of India. Brandon is developing curriculum and pedagogy for exploring resilient living practices through both nature and cultural experiences. Brandon’s international project will culminate in an Environmental Studies course offered during the summer semester 2017. The curriculum will have Western State Colorado University students investigate resilient living practices around the mountain communities of the southwest region of the United States.
